Gardens of the World
Bring the rest of the world to your backyard! Take a sweet escape from Canada’s winter and journey around the world at this year’s Toronto Star Dream Gardens. Designed by Landscape Architect, Arnis Budrevics of Alexander Budrevics & Associates, our gardens opened the back door to welcome over 25,000 square feet of lush gardens inspired by gardens in places such as Great Britain, France, Italy, China, Hungary, Sweden and Australia. Motivated by Vancouver’s hosting of the Olympic Games, nine of the GTA’s best landscape designer and contractor have come together to a create global garden theme sure to impress even the most experienced green thumbs.
Our Garden features and ornaments are imported from around the world to create that special inspiration in your own garden. The feature wine bar and it’s surrounds have been specifically designed, cut and imported from the ancient mountains in China to bring you a fresh new look in granite materials that now are affordable to you in your garden. The possibilities for your application of this newly available stone are endless!
Where there are gardens, there are patio parties! At the heart of the gardens is the West Coast Wine Bar hosted by the Toronto Wine & Spirits Festival. Plus, this year’s Festival spills into the global gardens where you can sample regional favourites. So, sit back, relax and sample what’s sure to impress your guests this spring.
Now is the time to start planning your garden. Our Dream Garden designers will show you how to properly consider the key elements in all garden design. Overall proper function of your available garden space, consideration for site grading and drainage as well as seasonal changes of each design will create a garden for your family and friends that you can enjoy for years to come. A focal point to any garden is a place to enjoy food. Outdoor cooking and dining ideas abound in our Dream Gardens with international flare that reflects unique personal tastes and create wonderful garden memories.

Garden Tips
Newspaper makes a great, compostable eco-friendly mulch and weed barrier.
There’s no need to rake up all your leaves come spring-time – leave some in your garden beds to feed the worms.
Dig and divide your perennials and have a plant swap with friends to boost your garden’s variety.
After the first frost, plant begonia, dahlia and other late-blooming bulbs and tubers to enjoy in the summer and fall.
Use a rain barrel to water your garden – you’ll reduce your water consumption and cut costs.
Blackout and thermal curtains can help block out nighttime chills.
